Workshop Overview
This workshop intends to enhance Python programming based astronomy research skills. The two day workshop will have a total of four sessions and one hackathon. A brief of these four sessions are as follows.
Session 1: Introduction to IASC and Astrometrica
This session will kickstart the event with insights into the International Asteroid Search Collaboration (IASC) and Astrometrica software. Learn the ropes of asteroid hunting and get hands-on experience with the tools used in actual campaigns.
Session 2: Basic Python in Astronomy
The session will guide us through the basics of Python Programming and necessary modules for astronomy. A brief introduction in Computational Astronomy will be given which will help solving astronomy related problems using Python programming language.
Session 3: Basic Introduction on Lenstronomy
This session will provide a foundational understanding of Lenstronomy. Participants will learn how to model galaxy-scale strong lensing systems using imaging data from the Hubble Space Telescope using Lenstronomy, a versatile software designed for modeling strong gravitational lenses.
Session 4: Keynote Speech on Image Reduction from Raw Astronomical Image
Participants will have valuable insights gained from learning how to get the science image from the actual observed image by subtracting BIAS, and DARK Current and FLAT Field correction. Image reduction plays an important role in astronomy research as it ensures the reliability and accuracy of astronomical data.
